Hair loss during pregnancy is one of the concerns of the pregnant women because aside from the fear of losing all their hair, the hair strands on the floor is really irritating and can make the place look messy. Actually this is normal to both male and female because the hair always undergoes a cycle where the old hair will fall and the new one will grow in a span of time.
Loss of hair is more recognizable during pregnancy because of the bigger volume of losing hair. Women undergo lots of changes during her pregnancy period that is why losing hair during pregnancy is cause by different factors. Pregnant women can have loss of hair because of hormonal changes, the overactive and underactive thyroid gland affects hair growth. Women are stressful during their pregnancy period because of the changes they encounter with their body, unbelievable food cravings, occasional back pain, and frequent urge of urination and stress is also a factor, it has an effect to the hair that decreases hair growth. During pregnancy the woman’s body needs a big amount of vitamins and minerals supply and in that case the intake nutrients is distributed to the body and the hair is the least priority resulting to a damage hair and losing hair.
Hair loss during pregnancy can be avoided if not, minimize it. Eat lots of vegetables and fruits because they can supply nutrients that pregnant women need and it can help on balance distribution of nutrients to the pregnant women. Also the woman needs to observe proper diet to have a healthy body. Avoid over thinking because it can cause pregnant women a lot of stress that will cause loss of hair and stress is also bad for the woman and her baby. The pregnant woman should relax more and disregard all the negative things that can give her stress. The pregnant woman should also avoid salon treatment or other hair enhancement products because those treatment and products have chemicals that can increase the situation. Mothers can do simple things to avoid excessive loss like if the hair is tangled they can untangle it by applying conditioner before fixing the hair. Use wide-toothed comb when brushing the hair and avoid frequent use of blow dryer and curling irons.
There are lots of changes on the woman’s body during pregnancy period and one of those is losing hair. Woman should not worry too much about it and just know the things that can help them minimize the hair loss or much better know how to avoid it. Hair loss during pregnancy is not a serious condition but knowledge about it can help the woman feel at ease during her pregnancy.
